A fingerprint is an impression of the friction ridges on all parts of the finger. A friction ridge is a raised portion of the epidermis on the palmar (palm) or digits (fingers and toes) or plantar (sole) skin, consisting of one or more connected ridge units of friction ridge skin. These are sometimes known as “epidermal ridges” which arecaused by the underlying interface between the dermal papillae of the dermis and the inter papillary (rete) pegs of the epidermis. These epidermal ridges serve to amplify vibrations triggered when fingertips brush across an uneven surface, better transmitting the signals to sensory nerves involved in fine texture perception. The ridges do not assist in gripping objects, sometimes in fact reducing grip to as much as 30% compared to completely smooth finger pads.

วันนี้ได้รับจดหมายจากทางโรงเรียนที่เราสมัครงานไปในตำแหน่ง Substitute Teacher ว่าคุณสมบัติเราผ่านการอนุมัติให้เป็น Substitute Teacher แล้วค่ะ ไชโย…. ได้งานทำงานแล้ว ทางโรงเรียนให้เราติดต่อทางสำนักงานของโรงเรียนเพื่อพิมพ์ลายนิ้วมือและทำประวัติ หลังจากนั้นก็รอทางโรงเรียนโทรมาเรียกตัวไปทำงานค่ะ

Substitute Teacher เป็นตำแหน่งงานชั่วคราว ประมาณงานพาร์ทไทม์น่ะค่ะ ไม่มีเงินเดือน ไม่มีสวัสดิการ ได้ค่าจ้างเป็นรายวันหรือชั่วโมง ชื่อตำแหน่งนี้ถ้าแปลเป็นไทยและเรียกให้ไพเราะ ก็น่าจะประมาณ “ครูรักษาการ” นะคะ ในกรณีที่คุณครูตัวจริงลางานหรือขาดงาน ไม่สามารถมาทำงานตามปกติได้ ทางโรงเรียนจะโทรศัพท์ตาม Substitute Teacher ให้ไปทำงานแทนคุณครูตำแหน่งที่ขาด ตำแหน่งนี้ไม่จำเป็นต้องมีใบอณุญาตการสอน วุฒิการศึกษาขั้นต่ำระดับมัธยมศึกษา อัตราค่าจ้างจะขึ้นอยู่กับ วุฒิการศึกษาและประสบการณ์การสอน ค่ะ

อัตราค่าจ้างในตำแหน่ง Substitute Teacher ในประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกาเฉลี่ยอยู่ที่ 80 ดอลล่าร์ โรงเรียนนอกเมืองจะอยู่ที่ประมาณ 40 ดอลล่าร์ แต่ถ้าเป็นโรงเรียนในเมืองใหญ่ๆ อาจจะถึง 200 เหรียญต่อวันเชียวนะคะ

A substitute teacher is a person who teaches a school class when the regular teacher is unavailable; e.g., because of illness, personal leave, or other reasons. While “substitute teacher” is the generally used phrase in the United States, Canada, Ireland and often Australia, supply teacher is the more common term in the United Kingdom (though the term is also used in Canada), Relief teacher is also used in Australia and New Zealand. An “emergency teacher” or a “sub” is another name for a substitute teacher in the US and Australia. There are also various other terms which may be used in a particular region (such as teacher on call T.O.C. in the Canadian province of British Columbia).
